The basic principle of sustainable development is to seek the balance between the environmental protection and the economic growth. It is important to recognize the carrying capacity of the natural environment in order to avoid causing any irreversible damage. This principle is constructed based on economic growth, environmental protection and social justice. It has become an important issue all over the world. Many international organizations include the United Nations, government and academic institutions around the world have been passively studying this issue or aggressively discussing it, attempting to better understand it and therefore draw up proper policies, goals and guidelines for actions.
We have well-preserved environment and good traditions. We have setup the policy to develop the county based on culture, tourism, information technology and environmental protection. The governmental staffs have been working hard to cooperate of among the governmental offices. All of these factors, combined with the participation of the public, have helped establishing a solid foundation for environmental protection works in Yilan county
The spirit of environmental protection is to protect and improve the environment, safeguard the public health, and prevent the environmental change and degrade. Environmental protection is also a comprehensive and continuous job. Its content and spirit change with the development of the society and the increasing expectation of the public. This office would, in addition to eliminate pollution sources in accordance to the laws, attempt to prevent any new pollution sources from appearing and to construct a clean, healthy, comfortable and natural living environment out of this county.
